Abstract


The article analyzes the peculiarities of the semantic field of German verbs of sound, i.e. verbs in which the semantic components of sound are basic. Used in figurative meaning, verbs of sound are found in a variety of other semantic fields. Within their own field such verbs are often used in a metaphorical and comparative constructions.
