    Abstract

    The article is devoted to the study of one of the stages of writing in general. The author considers a pictographic letter relating to the pre-literate period in the writing system. Petroglyphs preserved in the territory of Bashkortostan, from which, perhaps, the Turkic origin, including the Bashkir letter, originated.
